The New Career Technology Center

The new Career Technology Center was officially dedicated on Monday, and I was more than honored and privileged to be a part of this great event. Of all the individuals in attendance, I was the one who had the least to do with this wonderful edifice, but by virtue of my position, I was front and center.
I dare say that I was awestruck by the number of dignitaries in attendance. There was Congressman Tim Wahlberg, Congressman John Dingell, (who by the way, is STILL serving in Congress and is the longest serving congressman in the history of this great nation), and Senator Carl Levin, a person I have seen on television numerous times. Never did I suspect that one day I would be sharing a lectern with him; what a humbling experience. Other dignitaries in attendance included Senator Randy Richardville, Rep. Bill LaVoy and Rep. Dale Zorn.
This new building provides MCCC with the bandwidth to not only enhance the programs we currently offer, but to create new and innovative programs in the STEM areas. The facility will allow us to continue growing our many cutting-edge programs, create new partnerships and attract new students from areas beyond Monroe County.
Thanks to all of you who contributed in some way to preparing the building for the grand opening, to Dr. Nixon for his vision, and to Dr. Coomar and his faculty for putting on a jolly good show! Kudos, faculty!
